Impressions by Gilbert Roe & Peter Murdoch – 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Where: Rumours Cafe, Level 6, Union House

Photographers Gilbert Roe and Peter Murdoch discuss their exhibition Impressions. This exhibition explores the perplexity of observation through personal reflections on the world around us. Both artists are members of the University staff.

The Judges Series by Arthur Boyd – 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Where: Exhibition Space, Mitchell Building

Arthur Boyd chose the theme for his series of twelve paintings, The Judges, in the hope that judges would never forget about human frailties and the susceptibility to temptation. The series was purchased jointly by the University and the University Union through the Works of Art Fund.

Tate Museum – 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Where: Ground Floor, Mawson Laboratories

Established in 1925 and named after Ralph Tate, Elder Professor of Natural Sciences at the University from 1876-1901, the Tate Museum collection includes minerals, rocks, fossils and specimens that illustrate geological phenomena. Also amongst the items you can see when visiting are items collected during Sir Douglas Mawson's expeditions.

Half Light by Simone Kennedy  – 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Where: Foyer, Barr Smith Library

Simone Kennedy's exhibition of paintings and mixed media installation evolved from a concept for a memorial evoking a reconstructed memory of the one occasion that she met her father. The work exhibits gentleness and subtlety only Kennedy can convey. Simone Kennedy will talk about her exhibition Half Light on Open Day at 2:00pm: Ira Raymond Room, Barr Smith Library

School of Architecture, Landscape Architecture & Urban Design Final Project Exhibition  – 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Where: Foyer, Level 5, Architecture Building, Hughes Plaza

The Australian Institute of Architects 2008 Colorbond Steel Student Travelling Exhibition – 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Where: Display Room Level 4, Architecture Building, Hughes Plaza

The School of Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Urban Design is lucky enough to have this exhibition visit their School this year. The exhibition features outstanding architectural design projects of 10 student finalists selected from 159 entries in the 2008 Student Biennale. This is a competition/ exhibition of student work from Design and Architecture schools from around Australia.

Museum of Classical Archaeology – 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM

Where: Basement, Mitchell Building

Explore the treasures on display in the Museum including Attic Marble lekythos fragment (4th century BCE), terracotta sarcophagus from Tarquinia (Southern Etruria, Roman, ca 100 BCE) and Villanovan cremation urn (northern Italy, 9th century BCE).
